KMS ORCHESTRA 2017
Parent Night: Thursday, Aug 31, 6PM, KMS Cafeteria
You’re invited to our orchestra parent info night, Thursday, August 31st, at 6PM in the KMS cafeteria. Following a 20-minute presentation, we will have a Q&A.
2017-2018 Handbook
Behind this link is the handbook for the ’17-’18 school year. Orchestra students: please read it with your parents. This outlines, with charts and rubrics, how we operate and what I expect from you this year.
Please print the last three pages, fill them out appropriately, and return them to me by Sept. 8.
Note the different due dates on the orchestra fees. The $20 to come with us to Amazing Jakes (an optional trip that I hope you’ll join us for) is due this Friday, Sep 1. The orchestra class fee ($65 for beginners, $90 for all others) is due the following week. Our trips to Hawaiian Falls and to Studio Movie Grill are not due until next semester. You may pay some or all of the fees at once.
The private lesson form is required in order to be taken out of orchestra class once a week for a 25-minute private lesson from one of our private teachers. Please give this strong consideration– it is a powerful enhancement to class instruction. We provide the service of time, place, and matching with a teacher. You must provide the fee ($20 weekly) and the practice.
Chamber Pre-Season Training Camp
Check your emails, Chamber Orchestra members: your first rehearsal is coming up quickly.
Howdy Morning- Sat, Aug26, 8AM, free
Greeting to our new KMS orchestra students and parents! Our first event this year for you is a breakfast in the orchestra room this Saturday, at 8 AM. This activity is for orchestra members and families who are new to Killian or to the KMS orchestra. This meal is free, and will include pancakes, waffles, fruit, juice, and coffee. Please RSVP to Mr. Hood, hoode@lisd.net, so that we can make sure we have food enough for all.
At the breakfast we’re going to get to know each other a little, and get oriented for the beginning of orchestra. We’ll discuss lessons, instruments, fees, what we learn in class, concerts and our spring trip, and volunteering. I, the booster club officers, and orchestra student officers, will be on hand to answer questions.
Spring Concert Program
Our spring concert is Saturday, May 20, at Hebron High School.
